“Blood of My Enemies”

Ok Metalheads, you probably know about Attika 7, especially if you’re Biohazard and Static X. This would mean you

know about Evan Seinfeld and Tony Campos. But if you don’t they formed a super group and had their debut album released at the end of July. So, is it truly a super group or super splooge?

Well, since it was produced by MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack) it had to be good and, I was right. It kicked ass! I was taken on a roller coaster of angst, violent thoughts, escapism, relaxation, and a weird yearning to punch walls and jump in one spot until I ran out of breath. Super group indeed! It has a mix of heavy memories of the past with nostalgic bits of 90’s alternative and a delivery that should be dropped off by a dragon. This powerful antidote to your need for rockin’ out silly gets a 9 on the volume knob!

Kyng - “Trampled Sun”kyngband.com

Ever been slapped in the face with energy? That’s exactly what Kyng did right off the bat with “Falling Down”. It hurts right now but it’s good. I am reminded of Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots who finally decided to turn the rock up to intense brutality but not in a metal way but a ‘damn that’s awesome’ way. I seemed to have gotten pretty lucky this month with album reviews. There were several times I thought Layne Staley was still alive and singing. In fact, this could easily be a new heavy Alice In Chains. Oh yes, I did say that!

For those longing for that 90’s alternative sound with a side dish of delicious meaty sound, Kyng offers that over 12 tracks. The music is deep, the vibe gets you moving, the lyrics are strong and the vocals are masterful. I’m turning the volume knob up to 10 on this album!

“All Aboard”

Uh. I. Well. Hm. It took me a moment to figure out exactly what to say about this group but now I know. AWESOME! Hip Rock at its finest! I laughed a lot. The music moved me, the lyrics are bold and not too over the top. I think Lonely Island has a friend in the business! 10 tracks on this

Kwab "Microphone Suicide"

You may recall the interview we did with Kwab. If not, check it out. Kwab has a knack for a variety of speeds in his flow and the music is a refreshing mix of hip hop and upbeat mojo. “Microphone Suicide” gets more intense as it progresses and Kwab definitely has the chops to be on radio stations and a crowd baller in the underground. 14 tracks pull you through a story of familiar memories and hopes. I have to give Kwab his dues here. I turn the volume up to a 9 on this spectacular album!

Midnite Action “Luv Drunk”

I loved this album so much I decided to feature them. Now that’s saying something! They have a fun vibe that touches on the realness of fun, the consequences of some dumb choices and all in all encompass probably every one of us. They do this is a very entertaining way and that’s what they aim to do, entertain.

But it’s not just the fun vibe throughout the album, it’s the delivery. The music is very hip with touches of rock but definitely not like most of what I hear. That’s a very good thing. The vocals are great too. A great variety of back and forth.

“Lu Drunk” is a ride through 14 tracks of fun, plain and simple. I turn the volume up to a 9 on this album!

Revel 9 - “The Razorblade Diaries”

I interviewed this band last month because they have an awesome sound. This album starts out a bit  STP and at first I wasn’t sure if I liked it. But as the album got going I wound up loving it! They, like a lot of others I reviewed this month, have a rock/alternative sound but in no way sounds outdated. 6 songs fill up this EP and although the first 2 are subtle jabs the rest are straight hooks to the jaw and kicks to the groin. I love the intensity and it helps that they are humble people. Even if they weren’t the delivery on “The Razorblade Diaries” is amazing. I turn the volume up to a 9 on this stellar offering by Revel 9.
